Some trance possibly because their will power is weaker. Some interesting qn raised before and a rational answer given:
<<I've viewed several videos on Archans/LP's giving blessings to the individual's, and during the blessing, some of them (mostly with Sakyant's) will be in/goes in to "trance"??.
And i've been wondering, what is the reason the person goes in to "trance"??
And why does it happen to only some of them?
Does it help the individual? >>
Answer:
<<...raised a very difficult question. I don't think there is a correct or clear answer. All I can do is share some of the information I have (may not be correct). Firstly, let me say that trancing has existed since olden days and it is irrespective of religion. Christians trance (and speak in tongues), Muslims trance and of course Taoist are famous for trancing (their mediums who invite the dieties to possess them as we all know). For Buddhism, trancing has occurred during normal blessings, sakyant blessings, major temple ceremonies or festivals. This is not uncommon.
The question is why do people trance? Various explanation are offered and I don't know what is right or wrong:
1. It is the Deva/Diety possessing the individual
2. It has to do with the strong or weak will of the individual
3. It has to do with whether the individual is clean in mind/body or not;
4. It has to do with the spiritual concentration or focus of the individual;
5. It has to to do with the power of the LP/Acharn/Master doing the chanting/blessing/sakyant.
6. It has to do with the particular mental frequency of the individual as some individuals seem more attuned and susceptible to trancing. So many explanations, I don't know which is right.
Some people will never trance whereas others are very susceptible.
Whether you believe in a good or bad explanation for trancing, I will say this:
1. Trancing is not a reflection of the individual. We should never judge this individual in a good or bad way because of this. This is incorrect.
2. Trancing is not a reflection of the power of the LP/Acharn/Master doing the blessing, sakyant or ceremony.
3. Trancing is not a reflection of an indvidual's spiritual enlightenment or advancement in Buddhism as the only way towards enlightenment in the Dharmma is the Eight-fold path.
So at the end of the day, my view is that one must think, speak and act like a Buddhist. Do more merits and show more kindness to others. Learn and reflect on the Dhamma teachings. That is most important.
